Cloud Storage Comparison for 2021

Cloud Storage services are overtaking on-site storages like hard drives and servers. There are many cloud storage providers and users having the daunting task of choosing one. This makes them choose the big names like Google Drive or One Drive. In this article, I’ve made this simple by presenting the cloud storage services comparison for 2021.

The Best Cloud Storage

pCloud – Top personal online storage pick for all the platforms.

Sync.com – Best business online storage service.

Tresorit – Best online storage pick for sharing, large files and more.

OneDrive – Best online storage pick for family plans.

Google Drive – Best storage for photo sharing and for android platform

Mega – Top free cloud storage with more available space

What is Cloud Storage?

Cloud Storage service allows storing data in a remote location somewhere in a server or on a hard drive.

It is a model of computer data storage in which it stores the data in logical pools over the internet, which is called ‘the cloud’. In simple terms, the cloud means services delivered through the internet.

Cloud storage is a service model in which data is backed up, managed, and accessed remotely, usually over the internet.

Understand the difference between Cloud Storage and Cloud Backup then you’ll be able to choose the one you want.

How safe is Cloud Storage?

Today people are saving their files and personal information on the cloud very frequently. It is normal to think of the safety of the data which you save on someone’s server which is not in your control. Yes we are all concerned about cloud storage security ( including me )

The truth is, the data on the cloud storage is safer than data you save on your hard drive. Note that your hard drive might be an easier target for hackers. Cloud storage companies security measures are likely to be more robust than what you use to protect your devices.

We recommend setting up two-factor authentication which is provided by most of the services.

Cloud Storage Service Comparison for 2021

pCloud Review

pCloud is my top recommendation for cloud storage categories. It has several unique features that make it an excellent choice for users.

Are you a music lover like me ? Then pCloud is a better choice for you. Thanks to the pCloud audio play, which allows you to play music files within the pCloud web or mobile app.

pCloud audio allows you to create playlists, shuffle songs, and loop albums.

pCloud Features:

pCloud has a built-in media player that you can use to play audio files directly from the folder.

This allows you to share and edit files with other users. Syncing and sharing files is easy with pCloud, which it does even faster than Sync.com.

Now you can forget about your limited hard drive size. pCloud uses a different system comparing with other providers, creating a virtual drive that allows you to sync files without using any hard drive space.

This feature could be a real lifesaver.

Security: pCloud Encryption is in its essence an encrypted folder on your system. To encrypt your files you just need to place them in this protective folder.

  • TLS/SSL Channel protection
  • 256-bit AES encryption for all files
  • 5 copies of files on different servers
  • Option for an extra layer of encryption

pCloud Security

pCloud doesn’t offer zero-knowledge encryption with the free plan, which is a downside. You can get this option with a paid plan, which is called pCloud Crypto.  However pCloud Crypto is included for free with business plans.

What Is pCloud Crypto?

pCloud is nothing but zero-knowledge encryption. Data encrypted at the user-side and hidden from any unauthorized users.

With pCloud Crypto, you can use a specific area to store the files or folders that you want to protect with zero-knowledge encryption. This prioritizes your sensitive data, keeping it safe and separate from other files.

pCloud Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Excellent value
  • Choice of encryption levels
  • Excellent virtual drive

Cons:

  • Zero-knowledge encryption isn’t free
